State College Man Arrested for 12 Counts of Indecent Exposure, One Count Indecent Assault

UNIVERSITY PARK – University Police have arrested Ryan Ho, a nonstudent residing on Vairo Boulevard in State College, and charged him with 10 counts of burglary, 12 counts of criminal trespass, 12 counts of indecent exposure and one count of indecent assault. These charges stem from 12 separate incidents that occurred on the University Park campus beginning in August 2009, with the most recent incident occurring Feb. 4, 2011.

University Police have been investigating a series of indecent exposure cases over the past several years where Ho allegedly entered female residence hall rooms, laundry facilities or office space and exposed his genitals. According to reports, Ho typically used a ski mask, a surgical type mask or the combination of the two to conceal his identity.

In addition to the incidents on campus, several separate incidents occurred in State College Borough and Patton Township involving similar actions and were investigated by those police departments. University Police worked collaboratively with the State College Borough Police, Patton Township Police and the FBI behavioral analysis team to investigate leads and suspects. Ho’s apprehension followed an incident that occurred in Patton Township in the early morning of May 19. Patton Township Police identified Ho in connection with that incident and subsequently determined Ho was responsible for the other incidents.

Ho was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Grine and bail was set at $15,000 for each of the 12 incidents. A preliminary hearing on this matter is scheduled for June 1 at the Centre County Court House.
