Clearfield Track Teams Compete at LHU Bald Eagle Invitational; Shomo Breaks School Record

LOCK HAVEN — On Friday the Clearfield Area High School boy’s and girl’s track teams were well represented at the Bald Eagle Track Invitational, which was hosted by Lock Haven University.

The top performer for the Bisons was Jessica Shomo. Shomo placed in the top ten in three individual events – highlighted by her victory and school record in the long jump. Shomo shattered the old record of 16′ 3″ set in 1993 by Holly Morris, by recording a leap of17′ 6″.

Shomo also picked up a second place in the triple jump with a 34′ 5″ and placed ninth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.31.

Lauren Conrad was the next highest finisher with a fourth place finish in the 2000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:09.

Johanna Ryan picked up two top-15 finishes with her 11th place in the 1600 meter and 14th place in the 800 meter runs.

On the boy’s side, Damion McGary was the highest placer with his 146′ 1″ throw in the javelin earning him a seventh place.

The Bisons will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Penns Valley Rams in a Mountain League match up.

The girls are 5-4 on the season, while the boys are looking to pick up their first win at 0-9.
