Clearfield Boy’s Tennis Team Evens Slate at 1-1

Huntingdon — The Clearfield boy’s tennis team picked up their first win of the season, and first ever Mountain League victory, when they defeated the host Huntingdon Bearcats 5-2 to even their record at 1-1.

The Bisons lost at number one and two singles, but then swept the final three singles spots and both doubles matches to pick up the win.

Singles Results

1. Ian Bookhamer (Clfd) lost to DylanJohnson (H) in straight sets 4-6 and 3-6.
2. Kunal Patel (Clfd) lost to Micah Dowdy (H) in straight sets 1-6 and 3-6.
3. Ryan Bower (Clfd) beat Daniel Santos (H) in 3 sets 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2.
4. Cory Maines (Clfd) beat Michael Metz (H) in straight sets 6-3 and 6-2.
5. Jordan McAlister (Clfd) beat Austin Forshe (H) in straight sets 6-3 and 7-5. 

Doubles Results

1. Bookhamer and Patel (Clfd) defeated Johnson and Metz (H) in a pro set match 8-4.
2. Bower and McAlister (Clfd) defeated Dowdy and Santos (H) in a pro set match 8-5.

Exhibition Doubles Result
1. Butler and Vince Owens (Clfd) beat Caleb Acker and Kevin Hoover (H) in a pro set match 8-4.

The Bisons will look to improve to 2-1 when they travel to Tyrone on Thursday March 31 for another Mountain League matchup.
