CCCTC Students Take Part in State Conference, One Advances to International Event

CLEARFIELD – Twelve members of DECA (An Association of Marketing Students) at Clearfield County Career and Technology Center participated in the 60th Annual State Career Development Conference at the Hershey Lodge, Feb. 23 – 25.

Jessica Brady, a senior at Philipsburg Osceola High School won a second place trophy in the Community Service Event and will represent Pennsylvania DECA at the International DECA Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, April 30 – May 3, 2011. Jessica is the daughter of Debra and John Brady of Philipsburg. Anyone wanting to help Jessica with donations can send their gift to CCCTC, 1620 River Road, Clearfield, PA 16830. Fenush and Amanda Alexander – Hospitality Services Team Event, Tori Hamilton – Modeling and Job Interview, Porscha Gardner – Restaurant and Food Service, Megan Smeal – Retail Merchandising.

DECA is the only Career and Technical Student Organization operating through the nation’s schools to attract young people to careers in marketing management, and entrepreneurship. Its purposes are to develop respect for education which will contribute to occupational competence and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free enterprise system.

More than 1500 students participate in the three-day State Conference.

There are 75 DECA chapters in Pennsylvania with a membership of more than 3200 students, alumni, teachers, and business professionals.
