TYRONE – Clearfield led most of the way, but Tyrone rallied late in the fourth quarter to pull out a 43-42 Mountain League Allegheny Division victory in schoolboy basketball action Friday night.
The host Golden Eagles drew even at 32-32 and later went ahead to stay at 38-37, then increased the lead to 42-37 before Robbie Myers scored for the Bisons.
After the Eagles tacked on another free throw, Jack Mellgard hit a three-pointer for the Bisons with 2.5 seconds remaining to set the final count.
Mellgard was high for Clearfield (4-13) with 12 points.
Tyrone (11-8) got 19 points from Richard Crabtree, all but three coming in the 20-11 fourth period comeback. He cashed eight of 10 free throws.
Crabtree also haunted the Bisons back on Dec. 21, pouring in 25 points to fuel a 64-39 win.
The Golden Eagles remained right behind Huntingdon in the chase for the division title at 6-1, while the Bisons tumbled to 2-5.
Clearfield wraps up its first Mountain League season next week with Allegheny Division games against Central at home, at Philipsburg-Osceola Wednesday and Central Mountain at home Friday.
