According to the accident report, the multi-vehicle pileup occurred, when a tractor-trailer operated by Ricky L. O’Dell, 55, of Lowell, OH jackknifed across both westbound lanes. Nine other vehicles then struck his tractor-trailer and each other, police said.
Police identified the persons who were involved in the accident, indicating two operators, O’Dell and Ronald S. Slagle, 43, of Sandy Lake, sustained minor injuries. The injured operators were treated at the DuBois Regional Medical Center – West, police said.
In addition, police said eight others escaped without injury. Those operators were: James L. Miller, 44, of Renovo; Warren J. Meinen, 62, of Carnegie; Kenneth B. Hauser, 52, of Uniondale; Michel R. Miller, 53, of Erin, TN; Carol S. Sperry, 55, of Milan, MI; Oleg Syrota, 44, Chicago, IL; Matthew T. Lefevre, 30, Lewistown; and Thomas McBryde of Sicklerville, NJ.
Police were assisted at the scene by DuSan Ambulance, Oklahoma Volunteer Fire Department, the Bloom, Brion and D &T towing companies, PennDOT, the Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter of the American Red Cross, Fullington Trailways and the Penfield Volunteer Fire Department.
