Gant Gridiron Challenge: Week Fourteen

Last week was a bloodbath for all of us, as only Chris managed to predict more than 50% correctly, slightly increasing his lead over Jay and the field. The picks do not get any easier this week, and we’ll also have our Bowl Special out before the New Years Day bowls kick off tomorrow afternoon. On to the picks!

The Last Word

Chris: “The NFL games are almost impossible to pick because so many teams will rest players this week. However, look for the Steelers to wrap up the No. 2 seed with a win over the rival Browns.”

Jay: “Picking Miami because I think a lot of those guys will be playing for spots under next year’s new regime. Doing lousy in the bowls so far though. The Texans had a lousy second half; but I think they’ll spoil what little chance the Jags had without Garrard in there. Colts won’t lose a must-win game vs. the Titans. Rams in the upset in the biggest game of the week. Would have taken Seattle if Hasselbeck was playing, but not with Whitehurst under center”

Dustin: “It’s all about the playoffs this week.  Steelers just need to take care of business and they have the #2 seed, and if the Colts win, they are in.  Love how the NFC West comes down to the same scenario, even though the division is very weak.  But we’ve known that for a while.”

Rusty: “Being busy last week, I had to check most of the scores after the fact.  Imagine my surprise at how lousy my picks were.  Hopefully, this week will go better.  I can’t remember an end to an NFL season that had so many teams in need of a win.  Steelers and Ravens are both in, but looking for a top spot.  Both should win which gives the title to Pittsburgh.”

Dave: “The Bengals have beaten the Ravens the last three times they have met, and with the Owens/Cinco sideshow gone, Palmer has rediscovered his all-star form.  I think Baltimore will have to score 25-30 points to win, and I do not believe in Flacco that much. I think the Packers win and become the most dangerous #6 seed since the ’05 Steelers, and I think the Rams win and become the biggest home playoff underdog that I can remember.”
