PSU DuBois Adopts Soldiers, Asks for Public’s Support

DUBOIS – The Student Leadership Series at Penn State DuBois is extending an invitation to the community to participate in Adopt a US Soldier this holiday season.

Students in the leadership program at Penn State DuBois currently support 300 soldiers through participation in the national Adopt a US Soldier campaign.  For the holidays, those students are looking to the public to help support the troops through donations of common items to be placed in care package and sent to troops serving overseas.

Students also plan to add a personal touch to the packages they send this year, explained Student Leadership member Tony Harris. “We will be in the Lion’s Den during collection days with materials for people to make cards that can be sent to soldiers,” he said.  Harris noted that those materials will also be available during Breakfast with Santa, to be held at Penn State DuBois on Saturday, December 11.

Collection of items will take place in the Lion’s Den Café, in the Hiller Building, between 12:00 noon, and 1:00 p.m., from November 29, through December 10. Items can be dropped off at the student life office, second floor, Hiller Building, during all other times between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Non-perishable food items, travel size hygiene items, batteries, and books are all recommended for donation.
