CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team defeated the Lady Raiders of Brookville three games to one on Thursday night at Patton Hall. In doing so they picked up their ninth win of the year and earned the season sweep.
The scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, and 25-14.
Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor said that for her team, “It was a good win for us after the disappointing loss against St. Mary’s. We struggled
in the second set with our passing; then we did some switching up with Katrina Seaburn and Abby Johnson off the bench and they did a nice job
passing the ball up…”
Bailor the handed out some individual accolades, “We had a big night again at the net. Taylor Thornhill had 20 kills, 9 blocks and 7 service points; Rachel Michaels had 8 kills, 4 blocks and 8 service points – these two girls have been a force at the net all season long. Audrey Thomas had 15 assists and 20 service points; Madison Peterman had 10 assists and 8 service points – Madison and Audrey did a great job setting the ball off some of our bad passing. Hannah Bressler added 22 digs. We have Punxy coming in on Tuesday and we are going to have to play our best. They are tough; but I feel we can definately give them a match.
Taylor Thornhill reached her 1000th kill in the second set of the match, a goal that she has worked for since her first start as a freshman.
The junior varsity won 2-0 by the scores of 25-20 and 25-23 to raise their record to 7-6.
As mentioned above, the Lady Tide (9-4) will be back in action on Tuesdat October 19 when the host Punxsutawney, a team that swept the Lady Tide earlier in the season.
NOTE — The Lady Tide will be holding “THINK PINK” nights during their last two home matches — Tuesday October 19 against the Lady Chucks of Punxsutawney and Monday Oct 25 against the Lady Bisons of Clearfield…Come help the Lady Tide volleyball players and coaches raise money for Breast Cancer. Any money raised will be matched by the Lady Tide Volleyball Booster Club.
