CLEARFIELD — The Clearfield boy’s cross country team edged visting Tyrone 27-28 on Monday to finish the dual meet portion of their schedule.
The girl’s race was a non-scoring event due to not enough runners. The girl’s finish their record at 2-5.
Head coach John Jacob was rightfully proud of his team and gave the ‘play the play’, “It was nice to see the boys pull out a win for their last home meet of the season. Adam (Jury) and Alec (Coble) battled Tyrone’s top runner through all 5,000 meters. Coming into the last 200m it was still a 3-way battle with Tyrone’s Devon Wiser out sprinting Adam and Alec for the win. This was probably the best race I have seen on the boy’s side in five years! It was a total team effort to pull out a one point win. Jesse Neyman pulled ahead of Tyrone’s second place boy to gain a valuable place. Also Caleb Bass fought his way all the way up to Tyrone’s fifth place boy putting the team in a good position. Then when Vince Kovach crossed the line to take the last spot it sealed the victory for the Bison.”

Competing in their last home meet at the Bison’s Sports Complex were seniors Johanna Ryan, Adam Jury, Alec Coble, Andrew Hill and Caleb Bass.
Both teams will be back in action on October 20 when they travel to Indian Valley for the Mountain Athletic Conference championships.
