Curwensville Lady Tide Volleyball Team Upended by St. Mary’s

ST. MARYS — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team went “up in class” to face a bigger school for the second time in a week and came up short once again. After losing to DuBois three sets to two last week, the Lady Tide were beaten three sets to one on Monday night in St. Mary’s by the scores of 17-25, 25-11, 23-25, and 17-15.

Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor commented on her team’s performance, ” We played hard tonight against a quality opponent. At times we had several long volleys that ended up in our favor; but as soon as we quit attacking the ball we got in trouble. We need to find a way to play every game with consistency and we need to find that consistent play quickly.”

Curwensville stat leaders:

Taylor Thornhill – 14 kills and  6 blocks;   Rachel Michaels – 5 kills and  3 blocks;   Audrey Thomas 12 assists  and 15 service points; Madison Peterman 8 kills;   Hannah Bressler 31 digs.

The Lady Tide (8-4) will host Brookville, a team they swept earlier in the year, on Thursday October 14.

The junior varsity was swept by St. Mary’s by the tight scores of 23-25 and 24-26 to drop to 6-6 for the year.
