Lady Tide Volleyball Team Swept by Ridgway

CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Lady Tide hosted the Lady Elkers of Ridgway Thursday night at Patton Hall and were swept in three games by the scores of 18-25, 24-26, and 23-25.

Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor wasn’t happy with her team’s play against the district 9 rival,  “We came out flat this evening and we didn’t play with consistency; we seemed to be one step behind a play, a very disappointing loss, but I believe the girls understand that when you are playing the game of volleyball you have to come out and play strong and with consistency every match.”

The Lady Tide (6-2) don’t have much time to dwell on the defeat, as Bailor added, “I have confidence they will learn by this loss and come back to play hard next week. We host Mo Valley on Monday, then away at Johnsonburg and DuBois later on. A tough week ahead against some quality teams.”

Stat leaders for Curwensville were Taylor Thornhill with 16 kills and 1 block;  Rachel Michaels with 14 kills and 3 blocks; Audrey Thomas with 13 assists;  Madison Peterman with 14 assists and 9 service points with 3 aces; Savannah Strickland with 15 digs and 10 service points with 4 aces;  Ricki Wells with 33 digs; and  Hannah Bressler had 31 digs.

The junior varsity team did win with the scores of 26-24 and 25-20 to raise their record to 5-3.
