GANT Gridiron Challenge

The sports department here at GANT thought it would be fun to try to predict the ‘big games’ and find out who is the best prognosticator. Each week we’ll pick 12 games and keep a running tally. As an added bonus, each picker gets a ‘last word’ – a sentence or 2 about the weekend’s games. Typically we’ll try to pick an even mix of high school, college, and pro games. Without further ado, here are the picks for this week:

10/1-10/4 Dave Glass Fred Kavelak Rusty McCracken Chris Morelli Dustin Parks Jay Siegel

 The Last Word

Siegel: “I hope I’m wrong on WB, PSU, and the Steelers; but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on any of them this week. Pitt was a harder pick than it looks.”

Parks:  “RAVENS VS. STEELERS:  Two teams that don’t like each other will make all of the fans love watching this game.”

Morelli: “Not a good week if you’re a Penn State/Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Hawkeyes own the Nittany Lions and Steelers don’t stand a chance without Big Ben.”

McCracken: “It comes down to home field advantage for most of these games; the Steelers finally have the right quarterback in the backfield (yeah Charlie), and Clearfield and Curwensville will stay unbeaten in a big way.”

Kavelak: “I have a feeling that Steelers can’t beat a premier NFL defense with No. 4 QB.”

Glass: “Ravens are a bit overrated, but then so is Charlie Batch. If West Branch cannot beat Everett they could be looking at an 0-10 season.”
