LEWISTOWN — The Clearfield boy’s cross country team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday when theybeat host Lewistown 23-34. They lost by a 21-37 score to Bellefonte to split on the day and set their season record at 1-6.
The girl’s competition was non-scoring as none of the three teams had a full complement of runners. That did not take away from the effort though.
Head coach John Jacob had praise for both of his teams, “Highlight of the day was Johanna Ryan collecting her first win. Last week it was Juliana (Melgard) and this week Johanna took the spotlight. Both girls are working hard this season and it is great to see them both have wins under their belts. Johanna came from behind narrowing the gap between her and the first and second place runners. By the second mile ‘Jojo’ passed into second and was narrowing the gap between her and the leader. With a half mile to go Johanna was in the lead and didn’t look back.
