ALTOONA – After sweeping DuBois at home Saturday, the Clearfield Fall Ball Team went on the road for the first time and bounced Altoona 12-1 in the nightcap for a split of their doubleheader Sunday.
Wyatt Weston pitched a complete game six-hitter against Altoona for Clearfield’s sixth win in seven games.
Ronny Ogden and Jarrett Fulmer led a nine-hit attack with two singles apiece. Ogden drove in two runs, as did Levi Picard with a double. Drew Brown also had a two-bagger.
In the opener, Altoona broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the sixth inning to win 7-4.
Fulmer went the distance in defeat, giving up six singles while striking out seven.
He also had two of Clearfield’s five safeties.
Clearfield came from behind twice against DuBois, nipping the visitors 4-3 with a run in the eighth inning and then erupting for 10 runs in the sixth inning for a 14-9 victory at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.
Kurtis Krise picked up both wins in relief. Ogden worked the first six innings of the opener, and Trevor Flanagan was the starter in the second game.
Jarrett Fulmer singled twice and Jacobson doubled in the first game.
Levi Picard socked two doubles and drove in six runs to highlight the nightcap. Jacobson, who had two hits, and Matt Josephson doubled and drove in two runs apiece.
Clearfield’s next game is Thursday at 4 p.m. at DuBois.
