- A one-vehicle accident took place on Rolling Stone Road in Covington Township. A 22-year-old Frenchville man was driving a Dodge Dakota when he lost control and went off the roadway, hitting several trees. He was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The truck was moderately damaged. He was cited for failing to drive at a safe speed.
- A one- vehicle accident occurred on state Highway 253 in Gulich Township. A 23-year-old? Tyrone man?was traveling north on state Route 253 at an unsafe and careless speed. The 2004 Jeep Cherokee he was driving hit the guide rails on the left side of the road and went into the air before exiting the roadway, overturned, and then hit several trees. Clint Wilson, of Tyrone, and Carlos Ortega, of Euless, TX, suffered moderate injuries. The driver, along with two passengers, Matthew Cohen, and Tyler Houston sustained minor injuries. They were all taken to Altoona Hospital for treatment. Another passenger, Justin Decker, of Tyrone, was flown to Pittsburg for major injuries. Seatbelts were not used and the vehicle received major damage. The driver will be cited for careless driving along with several other violations.
- A vehicle theft occurred on Atlantic Avenue in Houtzdale. Debra L. Lumadue, 53, told police that someone took a 1988 Ford F-150 from her driveway. The vehicle has a blue cab and a black bed. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 857-3800.
- Police are investigating a burglary/theft occurred sometime between July 20 and July 21 at a camp on Fruit Hill Road in Knox Township. Cameron Witherow, Thomas Witherow, and Dennis Witherow reported to police that someone entered their camp and took three coffee makers before breaking a lock on a storage shed near the camp. Two ATVs, a generator, and four chainsaws were taken.? The ATVs were a red 1998 Yamaha Wolverine and a red 2000 red Suzuki Quadrunner. The stolen property is valued at $12,700.
