REYNOLDSVILLE – Coming off back-to-back losses to unbeaten DuBois and second-place Punxsutawney, Clearfield got back on the winning track in the Jefferson County Legion League with a five-inning, 16-2 Mercy Rule victory over Reynoldsville Thursday evening.
Corey Bookhamer pitched a five-hitter, striking out six and walking none, while Andrew Redden paced a 12-hit attack with a home run and two singles, driving in four runs.
Justin Hoffman and Kyler Kephart singled and doubled and chipped in two RBIs apiece.
Both runs off Bookhamer were unearned because of a two-out error in the first inning.
The Chiefs, who got a two-run homer from Redden in the top of the first, responded with three runs in the second, Jarrett Fulmer knocking in one with a double and then scoring on a single by Hoffman.
Manager Sid Lansberry’s team erupted for 11 runs in the fifth.
Redden had two hits and two RBIs, Kephart clubbed a two-run double and Shane Harper, Hoffman and Derrick Snyder added RBI-singles.
The Chiefs are 9-4 in the JCL and 10-4 for the season.
As one of the host teams for the Bellefonte Wood Bat Tournament, Clearfield will play Bradford County at 9 a.m. and Kiski at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Then on Saturday they will play Mr. Dirt of Towanda at 12:30 p.m. and the Southern Tier All-Stars of New York at 5:30 at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field. The visiting clubs will meet in the middle games of the tripleheaders both days.
