REYNOLDSVILLE – The Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team made it a short opening day in the Jefferson County League by raking four Reynoldsville pitchers for 14 hits that, coupled with 10 walks, turned into an 18-1 victory Sunday afternoon.
The game was halted after five innings because of the JCL’s 12-run Mercy Rule.
Andrew Redden, Kyle Timchak and Corey Bookhamer were the big guns for manager Sid Lansberry’s Chiefs.
They combined for 11 hits and 14 runs batted in.
Redden ripped two singles, a double and a home run to knock in six runs.
Timchak rapped three singles and a double, good for four RBIs.
Bookhamer singed twice and homered, driving in four runs.
Bookhamer also took care of the mound work, limiting the hosts to five hits and three walks while striking out nine.
Redden’s two-run homer off loser Joe Brennan in the first inning proved to be the winning hit.
Bookhamer capped a six-run outburst in the second with a three-run blast. Timchak had singled for two RBIs and Redden had single home another run.
The Chiefs pulled away with three runs off Paul Butler in the third, four off Garrett Laborde in the fourth and three off Ryan Walker in the fifth.
Walker homered in the fourth inning for the lone Reynoldsville run.
Houston Fairman had two hits for the losers.
