The road trip loss leaves the Golden Tide at 7-3 on the year after a furious seventh inning rally fell short against the Raiders.
The Raiders took an early and commanding lead over the Tide holding an 11-2 bulge over their visitors after four innings.
Brookville’s big innings were the first when they scored three runs and then putting up a six spot in the bottom of the fourth.
It was then that the Golden Tide decided to put a scare in the Raiders by scoring eight runs over the last three innings while holding the Raiders to just one in their final two at bats.
Curwensville shortstop Jed Greslick sparked the Tide with a two run fifth inning home run that signaled more good things to come from the Curwensville offense.
One more run for the Golden Tide in the top of the sixth had them down 12-5 after six were complete and then it was time for Brookville to take a pain pill as the Tide rallied in their half of the seventh.
Although the Tide fell just two runs short they sure made it interesting as Wes McGarry started the seventh with a walk followed by a Sam Gardner single and a walk to Brett Sutika which loaded the bases with no outs.
Brookville decided to change pitchers, going with Derek Weaver who replaced starter Jared Heschke to try to stop a threatening Tide burst.
Weaver promptly walked Shane Hoover which brought home McGarry.
Shae Best smacked a single scoring two teammates, Gardner and Sutika, and with runners now on first and third, senior Jonathan Michaels singled scoring Hoover.
After Boone McGary grounded out to the pitcher for the first out of the inning the Tide were still in business with base runners now on second and third.
Derek Brothers would complete the scoring as he flew out to right field on a sacrifice fly that scored Best with the final run of the day setting the final at 12-10 in favor of the Raiders.
Tide head coach Denny Johns commented after the run filled game, “We just dug ourselves too deep of a hole to come out of, but we certainly showed a lot of poise and energy when we battled back late. We just came up short today.”
Curwensville returns to action on the road Monday as they play the Warriors of West Branch at 4:30 pm in a Moshannon Valley League contest. The Tide edged the Warriors the first time around this season in nine innings, 7-6.
