CLEARFIELD – J. Greer Hayden, of HHSDR Architects/Engineers, presented the bids for the high school re-roofing project to the Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors at Monday night’s committee meetings.

Hayden said he opened the bids last Friday, indicating four had been received for the project. He said R.H. Marcon, Inc., of State College, submitted the lowest bid of the four.

According to his bid summary, R.H. Marcon, Inc. has proposed a total roofing construction contract in the amount of $1,653,810.

Further, he indicated that their Base Bid B for a Garland Hot Asphalt Roofing Application was set in the amount of $1,998,940.

He said their Alternative No. 1B was for the Substitute Tremco hot adhesive applied, modified built-up roof membrane with the deduct of $345,130.

In his report, Hayden said the project budget was set at a $1.9 million total.

“It falls within the budget for the construction,” he said.

He said their project scope was to remove the entire roofing and edging system. He said they, however, have plans to salvage the ballast.

Hayden said they would install a three-ply, modified built-up system on top of three inches of insulation. He said they would replace the edging around the roof’s parameter.

During the re-roofing project, he said they would be removing the greenhouse, which is located on the high school roof.

He said they‘re aiming to start in early June and expecting to wrap up in late August.

According to Hayden, R.H. Marcon, Inc. is a large contractor in the State College area. He said they’re comfortable with their price and the project.

“I haven’t worked with them before, but they come with pretty good references,” he said.
