KANE – The Curwensville Lady Tide girls basketball team was as cold as the outdoors in Kane Friday night as the Lady Wolves had an easy time in picking up the win, 68-26.
Curwensville would score just one first quarter point, a free-throw, and Kane would dump in16 to take total control of the contest as they cruised to victory.
The Lady Tide did manage to outscore their hosts in the second period 12 to 8, but were still down at the half, 24-13. Then came some second half hot and some second half cold.
The hot was Kane scoring 21 third quarter points and then dumping in 23 in the nets in the fourth and final quarter.
The cold, again, was the Lady Tide scoring just four points in the third frame and nine in the fourth stanza as they fell to 2-16 on the 2009-10 season.
Tess Bloom and Taylor Bumbarger paced the Tide offense. Bloom had eleven while Bumbarger added eight.
For Kane they were lead by five players in double figures. Kaila Jamerson had 14, Ashley Wilson with 13, Kalie Walter scored 12, Andres Saquin 11 and Drew Victory chipped in with 10.
In the junior varsity contest it was Kane coming out on top of the younger Lady Tide 43-16. Hannah Bressler and Brittany Carter each had four to lead Curwensville.
The Lady Tide will make the short trip to Clearfield high school on Monday to meet up with the Lady Bisons. Junior varsity action kicks off the night at 6 pm with the varsity battle to immediately follow.
