WESTOVER – Just like the 64-40 win the Harmony girls basketball squad secured at Curwensville a month ago, the Lady Owls once again had an easy time with the Lady Tide, winning 68-40, this time on their own home court in Westover on Wednesday night.
It was all Harmony in the first sixteen minutes as the Lady Owls scored 22 first quarter points and then added 21 in the second to storm out to a 43-15 halftime lead over the Lady Tide.
Rusty McCracken, Lady Tide head coach, spoke of the first half afterwards, “The game was pretty well in hand for Harmony at the half. They did everything right and just played a very good, all around game.”
Three girls each scored 23 points on the night. Tess Bloom for the Lady Tide and Alyson Leyo and Lindsay Neff for the Lady Owls.
Curwensville did play a better second sixteen minutes as they dumped in 25 points. Harmony matched the Lady Tide point for point however to pick up the victory in Moshannon Valley League play.
McCracken did note the second half effort of his squad, “We played for our pride in the second half and it was nice to see the girls respond that way.”
Taylor Bumbarger added seven points to help Bloom and the Lady Tide offense while Makenzie Kruise had fourteen for the Lady Owls to assist Leyo and Neff.
Bloom, a Lady Tide senior, now has 48 points in her last two games.
There was no junior varsity contest.
The Lady Tide, now 1-14, journey to Johnsonburg on Friday to play the Ramettes. On January 12 of this year the Tide picked up their only victory of the season, 38-34, over Johnsonburg at Patton Hall.
Junior varsity action begins at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
NOTE: The Lady Tide have an added a game to their schedule which will be played Monday night at home against Bucktail. JV action begins at 6 pm at Patton Hall.
