DA: New Washington Borough Death Investigation Continues

CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr., announced today that the investigation continues to determine the cause of a death for a New Washington Borough man. Shaw reported that the State Police have activated a major case team to conduct a homicide investigation.

Shaw said that “Although a major case team has been activated, it is premature to declare this death a homicide.” Shaw noted that “evidence at the scene makes the circumstances of the death questionable.”

Shaw said, “At this time, we simply don’t know exactly what happened and additional investigation is needed.” Shaw reported that “Until we can say with certainty what caused the death, the State Police are treating the case as a homicide investigation.

“They’re working very hard and I’m confident the State Police will resolve this issue” Shaw said.

Shaw also stated that he expects the autopsy results to clear-up several questions facing the investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for 3:00 p.m. today.
