Bison Cagers Score District 9 League Win Over Punxsuatwney

Wednesday night the Bisons (7-4) were able to pick up a huge District 9 League victory over the visiting Punxsutawney Chucks.

Led by the balanced scoring attack of seniors Ben Johnson (14 points), Chad Zurat (13 points), and Trey Campman (11 points), the Bisons ran away with a decisive 49-31 victory. The Chucks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Bisons wouldn’t let that last for long after back to back baskets by Zurat and Campman the Bisons took the lead for good.

The Bisons turned up the defense in the second frame limiting the Chucks to very few open looks and allowing only one bucket in the period. Johnson provided the scoring spark for the Bisons in the quarter nailing three pointers on three consecutive trips down the court to push the Bisons lead at halftime to 28-11.

In the third quarter the Bisons continued to score on drives to the bucket by Campman and Zurat, while Johnson added his fourth and final three pointer of the contest to put the Bisons up by more than 20 points during various points in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Bisons took the air out of the ball spreading the floor out and looking to run off the clock rather than score. In numerous possessions the Bisons were able to run off 40+ seconds per possession. As the final buzzer sounded the Bisons found themselves with their fourth league victory to put them into 3rd place in the league standings.

The Bisons will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Bradford to take on the league leading Owls. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30.
