As the winter months are quickly approaching, many of us may be wondering about heating and energy bills. The cost of an average household energy bill is becoming extremely high and we have all been hit hard by inflation costs. However, there are many ways that we can lower energy bills that are simple and very cost efficient. This includes things such unplugging electric cords when not in use, using EnergyStar appliances, and replacing old windows; however one of the quickest and easiest ways is to employ temperature restrictions.
Temperature restrictions are simple; all that they require is lower setting of the thermostat in the winter and higher temperatures in the summer. This is beneficial because you would not be paying to heat and cool your house to extremes measures. For example, this winter most of us will be wearing sweaters and long sleeve tops. It is almost common sense to have a building at a cooler temperature so that it isn’t unbearably hot in the attire that we are wearing. Also, if your home contains a programmable thermostat, have it set to turn off while you’re not there. This will save you money on something that you don’t even use.
As simple as this seems, many people do not implement these types of energy saving techniques. Additionally, few people are even aware of the amount temperature restrictions save on energy costs. An average household that reduced heating from seventy-seven degrees to seventy-two degrees in winter saved an average of five percent on their energy bill. The best part of this type of energy saving commitment is that it is virtually no initial cost; you will only receive benefits. If you are worried about your energy bill this winter, try temperature restrictions.
