Clearfield Bisons (6-3) at St. Marys Flying Dutch (6-3)

Friday night\’s game between Clearfield and St. Marys may be one of the most important games in D9AAA history. The winner of the game advances to the D9AAA finals next week against either Bradford or Punxsutawney. This is the 8th time in five seasons that the two teams will match up. Last season behind Jarrin Campman\’s six touchdown performance the Bisons defeated the Dutch for the D9AAA title.

The Dutch are lead this season by junior runningback Kevin Hoy who has rushed for over 1200 yards and 11 touchdowns. In the last meeting Hoy went over the century mark rushing in the losing effort. Senior Greg Simchick calls the plays under center for St. Marys, and though he hasn\’t attempted many passes he has been effective when called upon tossing four touchdowns this year.

The two teams have had very similar scores against the same opponents this year, but one advantage the Bisons have is that they have defeated Central and Huntingdon in back to back weeks; two teams the Dutch came up on the short end against.

Clearfield will look again for their defense to come up big as it has in the last three games. Over the three game stretch the Bisons have yielded only 33 total points, and if the Bisons plan on making it to the District Final the defense will need to continue this trend.

The Bisons will turn to Curtis Frye once again to manage the game. On the year Frye has amassed 1400 yards passing and 10 touchdowns. Also over the last four weeks Frye has emerged as a capable running threat accumulating over 400 yards and another 10 scores on the ground. Frye\’s favorite target has continued to be Trey Campman who has over 700 yards receiving and six scores.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7: 00 PM at St. Marys
