LTE: Why Hasn’t the Mayor Been Charged?

Fellow Clearfielder:
Have you ever wondered this?

Why hasn’t Boro Council charged our mayor Patty Gilliland with anything?

This is what I have read over the last year or so:
Boro Council asked her to resign after she had invitations delivered to people/businesses for the Governor’s announcement that Clearfield would be receiving millions of dollars from the State. Then the Boro would not allow her access to the Police Department without being searched each and every time. Then she sues the boro because of this.

The boro racks up about $5700 in attorney’s fees because of this even though the law clearly states the mayor is in charge of the police department.

Patty Gilliland seems like a person that cares about Clearfield and wants Clearfield to progress and get some of the state and federal money available.

She has already helped to bring a lot to Clearfield. Some of what I have read is grants for the Third Street project and the parks refurbishing.
There have been grants for repairs to the police department building, the borough building and to the Chamber of Commerce building.
Clearfield has received grants for the fire and police departments for equipment.

Clearfield has been selected for the Main Street project which will bring money to the downtown for façade improvements and other revitalization.

Why wouldn’t we want Patty Gilliland to continue as mayor? After all, she’ll oversee all this for a salary of a $150 a month.

Lifelong Clearfield Boro Resident,
Karen Miller
