CLEARFIELD – Altoona scored four runs in the seventh inning of the nightcap for an 8-6 victory and a sweep of Sunday\’s double-header against the Clearfield Fall Ball Team at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.
Winning pitcher Matt McDonald belted a two-run home run and Matt Frederick singled twice for the visitors.
Matt Lonjin had two singles and Ronnie Ogden added a double for Clearfield. Ogden was tagged with the loss in relief of Derrick Snyder, who worked four innings.
The hosts grabbed a 6-4 lead with three-run rallies in the fifth and sixth innings before Altoona pulled out the win.
In the opener, Altoona registered pairs of runs in four innings en route to a 9-2 triumph.
Frederick pitched five innings for the win, while Tyler Weyant paced a 10-hit attack with a two-run homer and a single.
Starter and loser Trevor Flanagan and Kurtis Krise shared the mound duties for Clearfield, which fell to 2-3.
Manager Sid Lansberry\’s team was held to four hits, including a double by Jarrett Fulmer.
Clearfield will travel to DuBois Thursday for a 4:15 p.m. game at Showers Field.
Saturday\’s game between the two teams was postponed because of wet grounds and probably will not be rescheduled, according to Lansberry.
