Curwensville- The Curwensville Golden Tide have established a tradition of excellence under Head Coach Andy Evanko, and despite the loss of several standout seniors the 2009 squad boasts a lot of talent. Leading rusher Jed Greslick returns, along with several key linemen. Sam Gardner takes of the helm at QB for the Tide, replacing standout David Kalgren. I had the opportunity to see the Tide’s scrimmage last Friday and can report that what Coach Evanko says in the interview regarding his offense and defense seems quite accurate: the offense looked dominant, while the defense was a bit spotty. Gardner looked very ready to step in and replace Kalgren at QB – if the defense improves, look for this team to be a major factor in the AML South this season.
