Chiefs Idled by Rain, Look to Independence Day Tournament

CLEARFIELD – Thursday rains washed out the Jefferson County Legion League baseball game between Reynoldsville and Clearfield.
 
No make-up date has been set, according to Chiefs manager Sid Lansberry.
 
He also announced Friday\’s make-up at DuBois has been postponed until next Wednesday, the final day of the regular season.
 
The top four teams will vie for the playoff championships and a berth in the Region 7 Tournament.
 
Current standings show DuBois in first place at 13-3 with four games to play, followed by Punxsutawney at 10-3, Clearfield at 9-7, Curwensville at 9-8, Brookville at 6-10 and Reynoldsville at 0-16.
 
The Chiefs, 10-13 overall, will play three games in the annual Clearfield Independence Day Tournament Saturday and Sunday at the Lawrence Township Rec Park Field.

Saturday – Bradford Legion vs Clearfield Babe Ruth League All-Stars, 11 a.m.; Bradford Legion vs Clearfield Legion, 1:30 p.m.; Fox Township Legion vs Clearfield Babe Ruth League All-Stars, 4 p.m.
 
Sunday – Fox Township Legion vs Clearfield Legion, 11 a.m.; Bradford Legion vs Fox Township Legion, 1:30 p.m.; Clearfield Babe Ruth League All-Stars vs Clearfield Legion, 4 p.m.
