DuBois Overpowers Clearfield in First D-9 Northern Allegany Big School League Game

DUBOIS – Richie Pruzinsky scattered six hits and the DuBois Beavers cracked four home runs and three doubles to hand Clearfield an 8-1 setback in scholastic baseball action at Showers Field Tuesday afternoon.

The inaugural game in the District 9 Northern Allegany Big School League also left the Bisons 0-2 in the Central Penn League and 1-2 for the season.

Coach Sid Lansberry\’s team never had more than one hit in any inning and had two runners erased on double plays.

Pruzinsky hurled a complete game with four strikeouts and just one walk.

\”Last year, Pruzinsky struck out 31 and walked only seven, so we knew he\’d be around the plate,\” Lansberry said. \”We\’re just not hitting the ball yet.\”

The Bisons averted a shutout with a run in the sixth inning when Jarrin Campman singled, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a forceout by Aaron Sayers.

The Beavers, coached by ex-Bison Todd Stiner, were comfortably ahead by then.

Kasey Clinton\’s solo homer to right center and Pruzinsky\’s two-run homer to center got the hosts rolling in the second inning.

Nate Sabados clubbed a two-out homer to right center in the fourth, and Pruzinsky doubled home Mario Gregorio in the fifth to make it 5-0.

In the lower sixth, Brandon Palumbo doubled and Jordan LaBue singled for a run before Clinton hammered his second homer to left center.

\”They have a good team,\” Lansberry said. \”Their top six hitters are tough to get out, and the ball was really carrying tonight.\”

Gregorio had three of the Beavers\’ 10 hits off Michael Moyer, who struck out eight and walked four.

Corey Bookhamer doubled for Clearfield\’s lone extra base blow.

The Bisons will play their fourth consecutive road game Friday at Altoona in CPL action.

DuBois also won the junior varsity game, 7-0.
