Friday night the Bisons will travel to an all too familiar place. Clearfield will pack their bags and head to Pittsburgh to take on the Brashear Bulls at Cupples Stadium. The Bisons have appeared in two contests at Cupples Stadium – falling twice to the Perry Commodores, both were devastating losses in two different fashions.
Clearfield’s last game at Cupples Stadium was one of the most agonizing defeats in school history. With only minutes remaining in the 4th quarter a Bisons turnover led to a Perry field goal and a 12-9 Bison loss. In 2002 the Bisons fell to Perry once again at Cupples Stadium 61-0. 2002’s game featured two future NFL draft picks, Erick Wick and Vaughn River playing for Perry.
This year the Bisons will hope for once that lady luck will be on their side at Cupples Stadium as they take on Pittsburgh City League Champion Brashear Bulls. The Bulls are lead by junior quarterback Henri Chatman who has accounted for over 1,600 yards and 22 touchdowns. Manessah Gardner has been Chatman’s favorite receiver this season hauling in 45 balls for over 600 yards and six touchdowns. Junior running back Bruce Patterson has been a star for the Bulls all season rushing for 1,000+ yards and 14 touchdowns, while also picking up 40 tackles and four sacks on defense.
The Bulls defense has been stingy all year allowing an average of under 14 points per game. Brashear remains undefeated against teams from PA this season with their lone loss coming against WV powerhouse Wheeling Central Catholic.
Clearfield will look for a huge game once again from senior everything man Jarrin Campman. In last weeks D9 championship game the Bisons star provided six offensive touchdowns and picked off two passes on defense.
The game put Campman in the exclusive 1,000 rushing yard – 1,000 passing yard club to go along with his 30+ touchdowns. Campman though wasn’t able to do it alone. Clearfield’s interchangeable front six linemen of Nick Redden, Andre Buck, Brady Dixon, Cruise Kerr, Zach Stevens and Justin Barberri have provided running lanes and pass protection all season. Clearfield will also look for Isaiah Morgan to bounce back from consecutive games with under 100 yards and erupt against the Brashear defense.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 P.M at Cupples Stadium in Pittsburgh.
