Bisons Bounce Back with Win Over D9 Rival St. Marys

Many teams show what they’re made of after a devastating loss, and the
Bisons did just that Friday night.  Clearfield came away with a 29-6 win
over visiting St. Marys with a mixture of stout defense and solid ball
control.

“Our defense played well tonight, and our offense made plays,” commented
Clearfield Head Coach Tim Janocko.

Clearfield got the scoring started early on their first possession of
the game as Jarrin Campman scored from 2 yards out with 7:59 remaining
in the first quarter.  The drive was sparked by a 45 yard pass
completion which started by a backwards lateral from Jarrin Campman to
Brandon Sass.  Sass then found a streaking Trey Campman down the
sideline for the big gain.

“That play was a momentum changer.  We’ve been practicing it all year
and we were just waiting for the right time to run it,” said Janocko.

The Bisons would force the second of three Dutch punts in the first half on
the following St. Marys possession.  The Bisons then used a 56 yard
drive in which two fourth down conversions were completed in order to go
up 14-0 after another Campman 4 yard touchdown run.

On St. Marys\’ following possession Nick Redden made a spectacular
interception in which he tipped the ball to himself on the Dutch’s first
play.  Redden’s interception set up yet another Campman touchdown run
from 2 yards out.

The Bison would build on their 21-0 halftime lead by scoring a safety on
the Dutch second possession of the half.  Parker Herrington’s punt on
the Bison\’s first possession of the half trickled down to the 1 inch
line before being downed by Trey Campman.

“That was a huge play. Parker punted the ball very well tonight, and
Trey did a good job of letting the ball bounce and down it inside the 1,”
said Janocko.

The Bisons would score once more on the night in the 3rd quarter with a
3 yard touchdown run by Isaiah Morgan.

St. Marys finally got on the board with 2:19 remaining in the game as
Greg Simchick hooked up with Michael Feldbaur with a 10 yard strike.
St. Marys used a lateral play of their own to gain good field position
as Simchick hit Feldbaur for a 30 yard completion, but before being
tackled Feldbaur lateraled the ball to James Swanson who raced another
30 yards down to the 15.

The Bisons will match up once again with the Dutch next week for the
District 9 AAA Championship with site and time to be determined.
