Sayers Pitches No-no, Butler Hurls Shutout for Clearfield Fall Ball Team

CLEARFIELD – Shutout pitching by Isaac Butler and Aaron Sayers, who hurled a no-hitter, highlighted the Clearfield fall baseball team\’s 5-0 and 11-0 wins over Moshannon Valley in six-inning games at the Lawrence Township Rec Park Field Sunday afternoon.
 
Sayers struck out 13 and walked only one in his nightcap gem.
 
Matt Lonjin and Justyn Knepp had two singles apiece while Trevor Flanagan drove in two runs for Clearfield.
 
Butler hurled a six-hitter with seven strikeouts in the opener. He did not issue a walk.
 
Sayers, Kyle Timchak and Justin Hoffman each had two singles for manager Sid Lansberry\’s team. Timchak and Jarrett Fulmer had two RBIs apiece.
 
Mo Valley\’s Ianniq Ecklund doubled for the only extra base hit of the day.
 
Clearfield, 6-11 with five wins in its last seven games, will return to the LTRP Field for 1 p.m. double-headers against West Branch Saturday and State College Sunday.
