Tyrone Golden Eagles (3-0) at Clearfield Bisons (2-1)

Friday night the Bisons will write a new chapter in their long storied football history as they will play their first MAC Nittany League division game.  The Bisons (2-1, 0-0) will square off against the defending league champion Tyrone Golden Eagles (3-0, 1-0).  The Bisons made the transition from the MAC 7 Mountains Division in the off-season.

Though the Bisons have not squared off against Tyrone in a regular season match up in recent history, the two teams have met frequently in off season 7on7 passing leagues over the years.  Tyrone is coming off of a narrow 6-3 victory over the Central Mountain Wildcats in a game where every point came off of a kicker’s foot.  Tyrone’s key component has been their defense through the first few games.  The Golden Eagles have only given up 9 points all season and have only given up 1 touchdown through their first three contests.  Offensively Tyrone is lead by quarterback Levi Reihart and the running back tandem of Mark Mingle and Larry Glace.  Reihart is coming off of a solid game in which he passed for 126 yards while the duo of Mingle and Glace combined to rush for 170 yards.

The Bisons will once again turn to the arms and legs of senior quarterback Jarrin Campman, and the tough running of senior running back Isaiah Morgan.  Campman and Morgan put on a masterful display of rushing last week accounting for 233 yards between the two senior captains.  Campman was also effective through the air throwing for 100+ yards and a touchdown to go along with his 4 rushing touchdowns.  The Bisons have their hands full though if they are going to break Tyrone’s 35 game regular season winning streak.

This game ultimately comes down two things, can Clearfield’s spread offensive attack neutralize Tyrone’s stingy defense, and can the Bison defense come up with enough big plays to give the potent Bisons offense a chance to capitalize?

Friday night’s match up could decide the 2008 MAC Nittany division Champion.  This game is a can’t miss for any high school football enthusiast in the area.  Kick off is scheduled for 7 P.M. Friday night at the Clearfield Bisons Sports Complex.
