Steel Block Nationals One Day Event Slated for Sept. 13

OSCEOLA MILLS – Track Officials have announced the Steel Block Nationals scheduled for two days will be condensed to a one day event on Saturday September 13th.

Director of Operations Dan Bainey had this to say “We looked at this event for a while and decided that with the cost of fuel and hotels on both the teams and fans, it would help them more if we ran it all in one day.”

Track Owner Tim Bainey said that was his #1 Priority. \”We know its a tough time for everyone right now, and I want to make sure this is an event that is affordable for the drivers, fans, teams, and their families. So we decided to go to a one day deal.\”

\”We\’ve upped the purses and are trying to cut the costs – It\’s our way of saying thanks to everyone for their support in our first season. We have some great things in store for CPS in 2009 and are hoping to make some announcements on that soon!\”

The second annual Steel Block Nationals will see a pay increase from last year with the winner taking home $4008 and the starting money is a cool $400.

Along with the Late Models, the Street Stocks will be running the final event of the Street Stock Shootout. They also will be running for an increased payday with $3008 to win and $300 to start the event.

“I’m really looking forward to the Nationals, said CPS Owner Tim Bainey. “We want this race to be one people mark on their calendars year after year like they do for the Yankee Doodle. This should be one of the biggest events in the Northeast as we closeout our 2008 season and we are looking forward to some great racing with some of the region’s biggest stars.\”

The event will start at 5:00 with the pit gates opening at 1 p.m., the Grandstands and Hill Parking will open at 2p.m. Total payouts and pre-registration forms will be added in the upcoming days. The track does have an overnight camping area, free of charge.

A rain date for the event has been set for Sunday September 14th.

Plus registration forms are available on the speedway website at www.thebigtrack.com. The cost for Late Model’s is $75 for pre-registration and $100 at the gate and for Street Stock it is $50 pre-registration and $75 at the gate.
