CLEARFIELD – After pulling out two narrow wins to reach the District 5 Tournament winner\’s bracket final, the Clearfield Little League 11-Year-Old All-Stars never got started against Mifflin County Saturday evening and fell 15-0 in 3-1/2 innings at William McNamee Memorial Field.
Mifflin County bunched seven hits with two walks, a hit batsman, two Clearfield errors and several wild pitches and passed balls to score 11 runs in the first inning en route to its third consecutive impressive victory.
Every starter scored at least one run and seven of the nine broke into the hit column.
Isaiah Kearns and Peyton Reeseman each had two hits in the first-inning outburst. Kearns belted an opposite-field home run to deep right field and grounded a double to the center field fence, driving in three runs. Reeseman added two singles and one RBI.
Tim Pearce also had two hits for the winners, who posted their other four runs off Jon Janocko in the third frame.
Evan Seby worked three innings for the win, and lefty Blaise Roush pitched the fourth inning. They struck out four and gave up three singles.
Clearfield will have to get past State College American at home Monday to get another crack at Mifflin County in Wednesday\’s district title contest. State College American defeated State College National 8-1 Saturday to join Clearfield in the elimination bracket final.
