LTE: Time for a Change in the 74th District

Representative George’s recent statement to the press, “I am tired of this g….d….place anyway.” represents the feelings of many of his constituents. They, too, are tired:

• Tired of living in an economically depressed area and looking at empty store fronts that once housed businesses and jobs.
• Tired of having to travel long distances outside the 74th district in order to earn a living, and tired of having to pay high gas prices in order to do so.
• Tired of raising educated children only to have them move from the area so they can find work.
• Tired of seeing their representative handing out giant cardboard checks to fire companies and municipalities struggling to meet costs, instead of them reaping the benefits of a strong tax base fueled by economic growth.
• Tired of watching nearby communities, such as Dubois, grow while Clearfield dies.

The 74th District needs a leader who will work tirelessly for its residents, and will do so in a positive manner. An example of candidate Richard Hansel’s positive commitment to economic growth is the Clearfield County Branding Project, “Grown, Gathered and Produced in Clearfield County, PA.” Under his committee chairmanship, the Clearfield County Farm Bureau has developed a brand that will be available for agriculture businesses to use to help them promote their homegrown products. This initiative will have a positive impact on agriculture and on ag-tourism businesses.

If given the opportunity to represent you in Harrisburg, Richard Hansel will be able to do much more for the 74th District, and you will never, ever have to pick up a newspaper and read the kind of statement that was quoted at the beginning of this letter.
