CLEARFIELD – The eleventh annual Clearfield Riverfront Canoe Race departed from Lower Witmer park on a five mile round trip course. The course began down stream from the boat launch and started with the competitors paddling up stream to the Hyde bridge and back.
This was the second race of the day held by McCracken’s Canoe Sales and Rental and the American Legion, the latter also a sponsor. The first was from the Curwensville Civic center to Lower Witmer park.
Between the two races there were 25 boats and 35 competitors.
“Great rivers to paddle,” said Jake Rabatan of Montville, Oh. “Our rivers are always muddy. Your’s are always clear even if it rained three inches the day before.”
With the exception of the heat the competitors seemed to have enjoyed the race.
