Former Pirate Pitcher Jim Rooker This Week on Sports Sunday


CLEARFIELD – WOKW’s, (102.9), “Sports Sunday” at 9:15 am, with Dave Marino and Bear Stewart welcomes former major league pitcher Jim Rooker this Sunday.

Rooker started his career with the Detroit Tigers in 1968 before coming to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1973. The lefty had his best years in a Pirate uniform. Rooker started game five of 1979 World Series with the Pirates trailing the Baltimore Orioles 3 games to 1.

He pitched a brilliant five innings, giving up only one run, as the Pirates rallied to win that game and then went on to win the World Championship.
