Curwensville Hoop Games Postponed, Boys To Enter 9-AA Playoffs

CURWENSVILLE – School closings due to the weather Friday meant postponements for the Curwensville boys and girls basketball teams.

Athletic director Allen Leigey announced there is a chance neither game will be rescheduled because all regular season must be played by the end of next week and the Golden Tide and Lady Tide already are booked for three games apiece.

Coach Matt Wassil\’s Golden Tide (8-12) will travel to Ridgway Tuesday and then host Moshannon Valley Wednesday and Philipsburg-Osceola Friday.

Coach Vic Gearhart\’s Lady Tide (0-20) goes on the road to play Moshannon Valley Monday and Sheffield Friday, with its home finale Tuesday against Ridgway.

Leigey also announced that the Curwensville boys team has been entered in the District 9 Class AA Playoffs.

Under present school policy, all wins are counted but only a team\’s losses to opponents in the same classification are factored into the qualifying record. The Golden Tide is 8-7 in those games.

The 9-AA tourney will get under way the week of Feb. 10.
