DUBOIS—The Curwensville Lady Tide have played fairly well in the first half of their last three games. The second half is where they can’t keep it going. DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) kept the Tide winless with a 52-36 victory Saturday night. The Lady Cardinals with the win even their overall record to 6 – 6. For Curwensville they will keep searching for their first taste of victory as they drop to 0 -11 on the year.
At one point in the second period the Lady Tide had a one point lead 11-10. Then senior point guard Molly Yebernetsky of DCC hit two three pointers to push the Cardinals to a 25-17 half-time bulge.
Another Central Catholic senior, Andrea Moyer, dumped in 7 in the second period to help Yebernetsky and her teammates.
Hannah Walls, of the Tide, came back after missing two games with an illness, had seven points, which followed sophomore Tess Bloom who scored 9.
The Tide trailed by 10 going into the final period and DCC made sure there would be no miracle comeback as they outscored Curwensville 16-10 in the final eight minutes to win 52-36. Yebernetsky led all players with 16 points, including 4 three’s. Moyer added 15 to also pace the Lady Cardinals in the Allegheny Mountain League (AML) contest.
DuBois Central Catholic overwhelmed Curwensville in the JV game,50-4.
It doesn’t get any easier for Curwensville as they play at home on Monday night against a very good Harmony Lady Owls squad. The Lady Owls will come into Patton Hall with a 10-1 record.
