Glendale Lady Vikes Top Cville Lady Tide 63-36

FLINTON—-Usually if you make eleven three pointers in one game you probably are going to come out on top. That’s exactly what the Glendale Lady Vikings did Wednesday night against the visiting Lady Tide of Curwensville. Glendale beat Curwensville 63-36 to improve to 3 and 9 on the season, winning their second straight. The Tide are still winless on the year in nine games.

Curwensville played without one of their leaders, Hannah Walls, who sat out with an illness. They did however jump out to a 13-9 first quarter lead thanks to six points by Holly Fink. Unfortunately the Lady Tide’s number one scorer would only add two more and that wasn’t until late in the third quarter.

Glendale’s Brianna Dick ignited the Lady Vikes in the second frame as she scorched the nets for 14 of her team’s 23. With that quarter in the books Glendale took a commanding 32- 23 halftime edge. At one point in the second the Tide had a 18-15 margin but were outscored 48 to 18 the rest of the night.

Dick had 18 points for John Matchock and his Lady Vikings, but she wasn’t the whole story. Samantha Noel paced Glendale with 20 points which included six three pointers. Three of those long net burners came in the third period when the Lady Vikings put away the Lady Tide with a 15 to 8 bulge. After three the outcome was pretty much decided as Glendale held a 47-31 lead going into the final period.

Sophomore Tess Bloom did all she could to keep the Lady Tide in the game by pouring in 15 points, going 9 for 11 from the free throw line. On the evening the Tide did great from the line hitting on 15 of 18 charity tosses. Fink, as mentioned, had 8 for coach Vic Gearhart and the Tide who now play Kane Thursday night at Patton Hall at Curwensville High School.

The 63 points scored by Glendale was their season high. The Lady Vikings also won the Junior Varsity game 35-11.
