Owls Hand Golden Tide First MVL Loss 87-66

CURWENSVILLE – Defending champion Harmony shrugged off Curwensville\’s strong first period to depart Patton Hall with an important 87-66 Moshannon Valley League victory in schoolboy basketball action Tuesday night.
 
The visiting Owls, with four players in double figures, won going away after trailing 22-18 at the end of eight minutes to climb to the top of the MVL at 3-1. They led 39-36 at halftime.
 
Cody Rydbom paced coach Terry Kruise\’s 7-1 Owls with 23 points. Freshman guard Cameron Norris followed with 19, while Jody Schneider and Jeremy Priester added 14 and 10, respectively.
 
Curwensville also had four players score in double figures, topped by junior Derek Dixon\’s career-high 24 points. David Kalgren netted 14, and Ryan Gardner and Joey Palmer each had 10.
 
Coach Matt Wassil\’s Golden Tide, 1-1 in the MVL and 2-3 overall, will travel to Allport Friday to play West Branch in what will be another key Moshannon Valley League game. The Warriors handed Harmony its lone defeat.
