AG’s Office Announces Arrests in Alleged Cocaine, Heroin Ring in Clearfield County

HARRISBURG – A large-scale cocaine and heroin distribution ring operating in Clearfield Borough has been broken-up resulting in the arrest of 10 out of 11 suspected drug dealers, one with ties to the Bronx, New York.

Attorney General Tom Corbett said the arrests are the result of a nine-month long investigation into the alleged drug trafficking organization of Gabriel Greenidge, 22, originally from Bronx, New York. Greenidge allegedly began selling drugs in Clearfield Borough as early as 2004.

Corbett said that local law enforcement received information that a male from New York City, with a street name of D-Boy, was transporting large amounts of heroin and cocaine from the Bronx, New York to the Clearfield area.

In February 2007, the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and the Clearfield County Drug Task Force began an investigation in the alleged distribution of marijuana, cocaine and heroin.

Evidence and testimony regarding the illegal activity was presented to a statewide investigating grand jury, which recommend the criminal charges being filed today.

According to the grand jury, Greenidge obtained mass quantities of cocaine and heroin in New York and traveled by bus to Clearfield County for redistribution.

Greenidge allegedly developed an organization of distributors and supplied them with enough cocaine and heroin to sell in the Clearfield area. The main distributors were identified as Jarred Lance, Marcus McCoy, James McGuire, Daniel Brodman, and Daniel Peteuil, all Clearfield Borough residents.

Corbett said that these individuals developed their own clientele of street level users and supplied them with large amounts of cocaine and heroin.

The grand jury found that numerous street level users identified their sources of cocaine, heroin and marijuana as Greenidge or one of his five main distributors. Testimony revealed that Greenidge visited Clearfield on weekends and brought multiple ounces of cocaine and heroin with him.

According to the grand jury, Greenidge packaged cocaine and crack cocaine in cut baggie corners and packaged heroin in plastic drinking straws, which he sold for $30 each. One gram of heroin was enough to make 20 straws.

Agents estimate that the Greenidge drug organization was responsible for the distribution of multiple pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $300,000 and multiple ounces of heroin with an estimated street value of $100,000.

Corbett said that seven electronic wire money transfers were made through Western Union by several of Greenidge’s associates, on his behalf. A total $4,535.00 was wired to six different individuals, who lived in the Bronx, Queens and New York City.

“The New York City connection remains very strong and active serving as a pipeline right into small Pennsylvania towns,” Corbett said. “Drug traffickers from large cities are actively working to set up drug organizations in small and mid-size cities all across Pennsylvania, and we are just as active in our efforts to shut them down.”

Corbett thanked the Clearfield Borough Police Department, Lawrence Township Police Department, the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office and the Clearfield County Drug Task Force for the assistance with this investigation.

The defendants will be prosecuted in Clearfield County by Senior Deputy Attorney General David Gorman of the Attorney General’s Drug Strike Force.
