Central PA Speedway Nationals Saturday

CLEARFIELD, PA – Like a fine wine, the Central Pennsylvania Speedway has been “chilling” since the annual Yankee Doodle race in July, now the track named “The Big Bear” will roar back to life this Saturday night with the inaugural Central PA Nationals.

Dubbed the fastest short track in Central Pennsylvania, CPS will host this inaugural race for the Steel Block/Crate Late Models and the Street Stocks.

So far 80 drivers from six states have registered to try and become the first to tame the Big Bear in this inaugural event that will see the best in the business taking on the super fast track.

The fans won’t want to miss this event that will surely become one of the states biggest shows. It is offering the biggest purse these divisions have ever competed for.

The Steel Block/Crate Late Model portion of the race carries a purse in excess of $17,000. The winner of the 40-lap event will take home $4,000 while tenth place will earn $600 and it will pay $400 to start. Those who fail to make the show will receive $100 in tow fee.

The Street Stock portion of this event carries a purse well over $11,000 with the winner of the 30-lap contest picking up $3000 of that purse while tenth place will earn $350 and it will pay $300 to the 24th place finisher. Those who can’t don’t make it into the feature will take home $75.

Drivers can still register for the show. For the late models cars it is $100 to register and for the street stocks it is $75.

Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-15 and a family deal for mom, dad and up to 3 children under 15 years old is just $50. Pits admission is $30.

The rain date in Sunday, Sept. 16 with warm-ups at 5:30 p.m.
