Central PA Nationals Drawing Close

CLEARFIELD – The rumbling has begun, like a small volcano about to erupt, but when the roaring begins, those throughout Central Pennsylvania will know the Big Bear has come back to life for one final event in 2007.

The inaugural Central PA Speedway Nationals will be presented at Central Pennsylvania Speedway on Saturday night, September 15 with warm-ups at 6:30 p.m. to get the ball rolling. The race has a total purse in excess of $30,000.

The Steel Block Late Models and Crate Late Models will be racing 40 laps for quite possibly the largest purse they have ever raced after. The winner will take home a cool $4,000 tenth place will pay an incredible $600, while $400 will be paid to the 24th place person in the field. Those drivers that are not fortunate enough to answer the call will take home $100 in tow fee.

The cost to pre-register is just $75 before Sept. 11 and $100 after.

The street stocks will be going 30 laps for an impressive $3,000 to win tenth place will pay $350 and it pays $300 to start. Again, this it probably the largest purse the street stock division has ever had up for grabs and the non-qualifiers will pick up $75 in tow fee.

The registration is just $50 before Sept. 11 and $75 after that date.

Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for ages 6-15 and a family deal for mom, dad and up to 3 children under 15 years old is just $50. Pits admission is $30.

Other speedways are bowing out to CPS on this night, as Hesston Speedway has cancelled racing for that night to allow both fans and competitors to make their way to the inaugural race.

“This is a way for the street stocks, Steel Block and Crate Late Model teams to race for purses they rarely get to race for,” said Dan Russell, speedway owner. “This is their opportunity to shine.”
