DEP to Hold Public Meeting on Proposed Landfill Expansion in Fox Township

MEADVILLE – The Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 30, at the North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission Office, 651 Montmorenci Ave., Ridgway, to hear comments on an application by Veolia ES Greentree Landfill LLC to expand the company’s landfill in Fox Township, Elk County.

Representatives from DEP and Veolia will be on hand to provide information about the proposed expansion, answer question on the permitting process and collect public input on the application. The meeting is expected to last until 8:30 p.m.

Following the public meeting, DEP will begin an environmental assessment of the application, commonly referred to as a benefits-harms analysis

DEP received the permit application for the proposed landfill expansion on Feb. 20, 2007. On May 14, DEP hosted a local municipality involvement process meeting to review the permit with local and county officials.

The landfill expansion permit application is available for review at DEP’s northwest regional office in Meadville and the Fox Township municipal office.
