Clearfield Hospital’s Rehab Department to Consolodate Services

CLEARFIELD – Effective Sept.1, all outpatient rehabilitation services affiliated with Clearfield Hospital will be centralized on the second floor of the hospital, according to Amy Dixon, director of the rehabilitation department.

This consolidation includes the services currently offered at the Therapy Works clinic on state Route 879. The last day of operation at Therapy Works will be Aug. 31.

Dixon said the main benefit of this consolidation is a better continuity of care from the inpatient to outpatient settings by providing patients with the opportunity to work with the same therapists in both arenas.

“Patients work with our professional and diverse team of physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapists along with exercise physiologists. The rehabilitation staff and hospital administration are excited about the consolidation. We believe it’s in the best interest of our patients,” Dixon said.

Streamlining the services will also reduce public and physician confusion on which services are hospital-affiliated.

Dixon added that hospital-affiliated clinics such as Clearfield Hospital are exempt from Medicare-imposed financial caps for therapy services in a calendar year.
