Reynoldsville—Bob Rosman of Sykesville and Bob Ralston, Jr. of Philipsburg picked up victories Saturday evening at Hummingbird Speedway before rain forced the cancellation of the remainder of the program five laps into the limited late model feature.
The IC Light Beer four-cylinder feature opened up Candy’s Styling Studio night at the track with a 15-lap feature. Orin Taylor and Kyle Parson led the field to the opening green flag with Parson grabbing the opening lead with Taylor and Don Henry battling side by side for second. Parson continued to stretch his lead through the midway point with Henry, Ralston, Taylor, and Grant Butler trying to close the gap. Parson’s night came to an end on lap 10 as his car went up in smoke in turn two. Henry inherited the lead, but on the restart, his car went high in turn two and rode the backstretch guardrails on two wheels. Henry pitted with damage and gave the lead over to Ralston. Ralston held off Taylor and Butler in the final four laps to take his second win of the year. Parson, Taylor, and Adam Nixon won the heats.
The 20-lap Prontock Beer Distributors street stock main was next on the racing surface with Jeff Mease and Dan Smeal on the starting front row. Mease took the early lead with Rosman and Smeal battling for second. After a lap 4 caution, Rosman dove low on the restart, and made the pass of Mease for the lead. Rosman continued to stretch out his lead through the halfway mark with Mease, Smeal, Joe Kot, and Gary Little trying to close the gap. Rosman saw his big lead go by the way side as a caution flew on lap 16 as something broke on the left front of Fuzzy Fields car. Rosman endured one last caution as he went on to garner his first career street stock win at the speedway. Dom Surra, Little, Fields, and Kot claimed the heat race wins.
The Brookville Wood Products limited late model feature saw Denny Fenton lead the first two laps before being overtaken by Chris Farrell. During the restart after a lap 5 caution, rain started to fall with the caution flag being displayed. Rain got heavier, and management decided to throw the red flag thus ending the rest of the nights racing action. When racing continues next week, the limited late model race will pick up where it left off.
